Birth of a Nation Tour

From the Liffey river to a square named after a forgotten duke, lies the sacred turf where modern Ireland came into being. The duke was replaced by an uncrowned king, Sackville got the sack and Nelson was edged out by the Liberator.

Fear not, all riddles will be deciphered as we bring you along Parnell Square’s many hidden secrets. We’ll slowly weave our way down O’Connell Street, but be remembering a host of notable citizens from Brugha to Maud Gonne, the O’Rahilly to Rosie Hackett. To some it is the boulevard of broken dreams, to others it is the site that finally saw Ireland fulfill the eloquence of generations of dead patriots.

Culture vultures

We will also tell you about all other interesting forgotten nuggets along the way, as well as good places to eat, to drink and to enjoy Irish culture. It’s a tour we’re very proud to be taking with you, but we’ll call things straight – the last fellow to sit on a pedestal around these parts did not fare too well!

It’s a two hour tour finishing up at the front of Trinity College, but we may take a necessary diversion or two in getting to that point.
